Cambodian and Vietnamese Interior Ministries to Bolster Cooperation Against Transnational Crime

Phnom Penh, April 4, 2024: The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has committed to enhance collaboration with its Cambodian counterpart to effectively combat transnational crimes. The crimes in focus include drug trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal gambling activities prevalent in border regions.

This commitment to bolster cooperation was spotlighted during a meeting in Phnom Penh on April 2, where Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, was received by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha.

Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang expressed Vietnam’s intent to further strengthen ties with the relevant Cambodian units under the Ministry of Interior, emphasizing the importance of a united front against cross-border criminal activities.

In a reciprocal gesture, Sar Sokha extended his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry for providing technical training to the Cambodian police forces, a move that reflects the deepening ties between the two nations in law enforcement cooperation.

Sar Sokha also fondly recalled the warm reception accorded by the leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to a high-level Cambodian police delegation during their visit last week, which has served to further solidify the friendly relations between the neighboring countries.

This reaffirmed partnership comes at a crucial time as both Cambodia and Vietnam seek to secure their borders and ensure regional stability, underscoring their commitment to regional security and mutual support in law enforcement.
